How long before Illinois takes DNA from those merely accused of DUI?

Given the following story from New York, how long will it take before Illinois DUI law "catches up" and requires DNA samples for those merely accused of offenses such as DUI?

  1. DUI is a serious offense. There are many cases where people died because of drunk driving. Thats the reason why they take it so seriously when it comes to drunk driving cases.

  2. DUI is not a criminal offense, this country has gone mad. Sell alcohol at bars and then take DNA and turn citizens into criminals because they drank and drove..

  3. Dui has been implemented because of the high risks of fatalities from car accidents that is rooted from drunk driving. The Laws is just designed to protect the society and not to punish them.

  4. This is the sad thing in DUI cases. Both the perpetrator and the victim will suffer.

  5. Illinois should have mandated this years ago. Since DUI incidents could cause further damage in the long run. From misdemeanors to murder, most of these were done under the influence of alcohol.
